I started Soul Street Kitchen in 2012, beginning with small private parties. I then moved onto bigger parties and weddings, before starting up a market stall in Horsham market. It was there that I met Sam, owner of the Malt Shovel pub. He offered a collaboration where I would run Soul Street Kitchen from the Malt Shovel’s kitchen.
My passion for Deep South food came from holidays visiting family in Texas, which heavily influenced my American barbeque style. I now have 3 large American-style smokers as well as hand-built barbeques. Nowadays, I draw inspiration from cuisine from all over the world, but cooking outside and over wood is the real heart of Soul Street Kitchen.
In the future, I am open to the idea of Soul Street Kitchen working out of more pubs, expanding the success we have gained in more venues and market stalls across Sussex and Surrey.
